Know When Your Book Is Crowded, Copied Or Drifting

Glynac compares your live portfolio with the wider world of quarterly institutional filings.

The buyer problem

Why This Matters

A crowded holding, a borrowed strategy, a slow drift away from the approach you disclosed. None of them show up on a single account statement.

They only appear when your book is compared with the whole market, and no one has time to do that by hand every week.

What Glynac checks

What Gets Checked

Your live portfolio from Black Diamond, quarterly SEC 13F filings, and your own Form ADV Part 2A brochure.

Weekly

Crowded Positions

A holding you own in size that is also widely held across institutional filers. Flagged at 50 or more filers and 5% or more of your book. High severity at 150 or more filers, or a rising filer count.

Weekly

Clone Risk

Your book closely resembles one or more institutional managers of similar size. Overlap is scored from 0 to 1, flagged at 0.75 and high at 0.90, with up to ten managers named.

Monthly

Strategy Drift

The live portfolio compared with the strategy you disclosed in Form ADV Part 2A, Item 8. There is no fixed numeric threshold. Materiality is judged against what your own brochure says.

What your reviewer sees

Everything Needed To Decide

  • The position or pattern, and the quarter of filings it used
  • A severity of low, medium, high or critical
  • The filers or managers it was compared against
  • An open report that closes as Action Taken or No Action Needed

Where a person decides

The Decision Stays With Your Team

Glynac never decides that a position is a problem. It surfaces the pattern and a person judges it. A clone-risk report can be closed as No Action Needed when it reflects a strategy you disclosed on purpose.

What To Know Before You Start

We say this upfront so there are no surprises later.

  • 13F filings are quarterly and reach the SEC up to about 45 days after quarter-end. Findings are stated “as of” a named quarter, never “currently holds”. What is live is your own book, re-checked every week.
  • Clone-risk checks are not available for books under about $100M, because there is no tracked peer tier below that size. Crowded-position and strategy-drift checks still run.
  • Needs Black Diamond for the live-book side of the comparison.
  • Crowding and clone-risk scores are calculated arithmetic. Judging drift against a brochure uses AI, and a person reviews the result.

Questions

13F Intelligence: Good To Know

By design, yes. 13F filings reach the SEC up to about 45 days after the quarter closes, so the institutional side is never live. What is live is your own book. The weekly check re-scores your current positions against the latest available quarter, so a newly built position is caught the week it appears.
